1. What do you find as the biggest challenge for chess Organizer nowadays?
The biggest challenge nowadays is to attract chess players to choose particularly event I am organizing. In the after-pandemic period chess have been developed much more online than it was before. Many non-professional (amateur-hobby) players and especially those for whom it is not easy to afford travelling and being the chess tourist will choose online chess comparing to over the board 7-9 days tournaments. On the other side there are more and more variety of worldwide tournaments and players are not obliged to focus every year to the same destination. Another very present challenge is how to provide financial support for organizing tournaments on the high level.
**2. What is your tool to find and invite more players for your tournament? ** Usually I try to define group of players and countries for whom it is possible and expected that they might will decide to play in my tournament and address them directly. Also I distribute information about my tournament through social networks (mostly Facebook and Instagram) and send direct invitation e-mails to the contacts from my address book. 3. What do you think that is the biggest obstacle for improvement in chess career generally speaking?
Nowadays the biggest obstacle is great competition in all chess fields where you might try seek for some improvement. It is much easier to personally become better comparing to being able to achieve a certain result in any chess field.
4. Do you think you can live out of chess (make enough money)? If yes, describe what kind of chess activity.
Certainly yes. In order to be chess professional you need to be versatile. Nowadays, professional chess players usually combine playing with coaching and/or writing books. In my case, in general I work as online chess coach, organizer and arbiter but also work for Serbian Chess Federation. All of that together can make enough income to make my living out of chess.
5. Beside a chess organizer, do you have any other role in chess?
Yes, I have plenty of them. Besides being inactive FIDE Master I am International Arbiter (B category) and FIDE Trainer. At the moment I am Rating Officer of Serbian Chess Federation, member of FIDE Events Commission and Assembly Chairman of Central Serbia Chess Federation.
