A Chess Player's Letter to Santa – Dreams, Wishes, and New Year Victories

Happy New Chess Year from the Outpost Chess team!

Dear Outposters,

Since this is the season of wishes and dreams, it seems that Santa has found himself caught in the chess fever. In an unexpected turn of events, our dear friend Santa forwarded a letter to the Outpost Chess Company email, seeking our assistance in making a chess player's dreams come true. You can read the letter here (name of this chess player will be anonymous for obvious reasons)

‘’Dear Santa, I've been a good chess player this year, with only a few pieces (usually the queen 😣 ) blunders and the occasional pawn sacrifice (for strategic reasons, of course ;) ).

1st: For Christmas, I'd love a set of magical chess pieces that, when I make a blunder, can secretly whisper the best move into my ear. I've even come up with a name for them: "Whispering Wisemen Chess Set." Imagine the possibilities – no more embarrassing oversights, just smooth victories and triumphant endgame dances!

2nd: Now, I know this might be a bit challenging to arrange, I'll happily settle for a chess strategy guide written by the ghost of Bobby Fischer or a chessboard that plays motivational speeches whenever I'm losing. I figure a little inspiration might be just what I need to avoid those pesky blunders.

3rd: My ultimate Christmas wish is to have a chess career like the legendary Magnus Carlsen and other super GMs! I dream of the day chess people recognize me on the street for my extraordinary chess skills and my games become famous and studied by future generations of chess enthusiasts.

Chess tournament invitations pour in from around the globe, and I'm left scratching my head, trying to decide which prestigious event to grace with my presence. It's a tough life, but someone has to live it, right?

And to top it all off, everyone would want a piece of my wisdom. Chess clubs, schools, average players and even rival grandmasters will be knocking on my door, begging me to share the secrets of my success by being their chess coach.

I know it's a tall order, but hey, if anyone can make dreams come true, it's Santa Claus, right?

*Cheers, your Chess Player!*‘’

However, Santa, being the wise old soul he is, had some candid comments to share about this wishes:

The 1st wish, involving enchanted chess pieces whispering moves, was immediately dismissed by Santa as "cheating" ! He doesn't want any more chess-cheating dramas in 2024 and for Kramnik to have a handful of work analysing games of chess players.

As for the second wish, which involved summoning the ghost of Bobby Fischer for chess advice, Santa tactfully pointed out that in the age of readily available chess books, there's no need to disturb the spirit world for chess wisdom. P.S. This year even Levy Rozman (GothamChess) released a decent chess book.

Now, here comes the interesting part – the third wish. Santa saw potential in this one and thought it might be something Outpost Chess could help with. The wish involves making a chess career as illustrious as Magnus Carlsen's – gaining recognition, having games studied, and being flooded with tournament invitations and coaching requests.

Here's where Outpost Chess steps in. We're thrilled to introduce features that can turn this wish into reality. Chess players can create a profile on Outpost Chess, and enter their FIDE ID and chess data. Tournament organizers can easily find players for their events, and players can discover suitable tournaments through our Tournament Calendar. Want to share or gain wisdom? Our Intelligent Search can connect chess students with coaches and vice versa.

Reminder: Outpost is not a Santa, you still have to work on your chess strategies and tactics but we can help you with finding opportunities and monetizing your chess career.
