Interview with Anastasia Grozdanovic - one of the most talented Serbian youth player

From the perspective of a young talented chess lady

Outpost is keep rocking with an amazing interviews with super-talented Chess Players

1. What do you find as the biggest challenge for chess player nowadays?

For me as a young chess player , the biggest problem is financing of chess tournament . Especially in the last year , hotel prices have risen and I barely manage to finance everything. There is another problem , this year a lot of important tournaments have coincided to be at the same time when I have some very importants final school exams. Before , I managed to go in school and play chess at the same time , but now due to the calendar of some competitions , I will not be able to play, for me very important competitions. I think and suggest that the organizers should follow the school calendar and that they should think about people who go to universities and have colloquiums, so thaht a lot of young chess players could participate in those tournaments.

2. How do you search for a new chess engagement (clubs, tournaments)?

Mostly, I use chess result and I am also collecting ads that I get on competitions. I have been using the outpost app for the last couple of weeks. Beacuse I like the organization of the competition and that I can easily see when and where it is organized. And I would like to mention that I am currently looking for another club to play , so I am still having trouble with that.

3. What do you think that is the biggest obstacle for improvement in chess?

The biggest obstacle in chess is learning to overcome your feelings during a single game of chess. I believe that when a person overcomes his problems during a chess game , he opens up and shows their true potential. Many players have great knowledge in chess, but they have a lot of other thoughts that distract them when they play. Every other obstacle can be solved mush easier , but in my opinion, this is the biggest obstacle that needs to be solved in order to become a strong chess player and to improve.

4. Do you think you can live out of chess (make enough money)?

There are a lot of prejudices around this issue . my opinion is that it is possible , there are many ways too earn and live from chess . My wish is to one day achieve that and I would like to be a coach. Beacuse my life is fulfilled If I do what I love. And I believe that people should do what they love, If they love chess, it is possible to make a living from it, you just have to find a way.

5. Beside a chess player, do you have any other role in chess?

I do not have it right now , but as I said , I would like to be a coach one day.

**6. Feel free to add any comments, answers, concerns about your chess life **

I would like to add that I would like to see more talk about chess in our country through the media , beacuse chess is a game that in Serbia shows real fight on 64 fields and a lot of talented people. I would also like to see more help to young chess players, beacuse I think we have a lot of chess players who could make big miracles in the world.
