Is cheating online the biggest threat to online chess? ind out the story about Ford Moises and the situation in chess.
What do you think is the biggest challenge for the chess player nowadays?
Chess is in full development and is taking a step forward in the computer aspect, more and more portals are adapting their formats to make this sport massive online and this generates what is for me the main challenge of a chess player,Online cheating is undoubtedly generating an atmosphere of extreme paranoia among competitors of all kinds, and the specific challenge is to begin to trust the latest generation platforms and believe in their ability to detect this type of practice. In the individual aspect of a chess player, the greatest challenge is based on the ease that players have today to access information, this generates a rapid and radical change in the classical conception of chess, today we can see players under 12 years playing like true geniuses and for the previous generation it is difficult to understand how this is possible and it is nothing more than easy access to information that was so difficult to obtain before. A chess engine can analyse almost 100 years of history in a minute and this generates a great leap in new ways of learning. The challenge is to adapt to each technological change and stick to the new training principles, new tournament formats that come out every day and trust in portals with a recognized track record on the subject of cheating.
How to search for a new chess commitment (clubs, tournaments)?
The key is the sense of belonging, with a life as fast as the one we have today it is difficult for a chess player to have a space in which they feel part of an organization since a large part of the general offer of clubs and tournaments is so varied that anyone can go from one site to another without generating the slightest commitment, therefore clubs and organizers are required to quickly adapt to the new thinking of the modern chess player, focused mostly on the coverage given to chess in These days, for example, a club must actively participate in the training of any of its members and in turn generate mechanisms for them to adapt to social networks, motivate its members through broadcasts, blogs, in short, all the tools that make up the new reality, it is something that we are observing in recent years with the number of online tournaments where the best players in the world participate, the average player also wants to be part of this and only in this way can the current commitment be motivated.
What do you think is the biggest obstacle to improving in chess?
What generates solutions also generates difficulties, I am referring clearly to online chess itself, although it has benefits that can increase the development of a chess player, it can also generate bad habits without the proper guidance, chess requires commitment, perseverance and great effort, but we we ran into players who can spend more than 6 hours a day playing blitz modes or solving puzzles without thinking about the tactical aspects that led to that puzzle being solved so the biggest hurdle is using online tools without proper guidance, as long as the The objective is to constantly improve, however this does not apply to those who play chess with the sole motivation of having fun.
Do you think you can make a living from chess (make enough money)?
Yes, currently you can live from chess and although it is an increasingly complicated fight due to constant competition, it is well known that more and more people are looking at chess in a more interested way and obviously this generates a market that can be accessed. as an organizer, coach or player and without a doubt make a living from this.
Besides a chess player, do you have any other role in chess?
I am currently a chess trainer for players between 1000 and 1400 elo levels, as well as being an adviser to rising chess pages on the cheating problem.
What about Outpost Chess?
For Outpost Chess it is an informative chess page that adheres to the new times and generates opportunities both at a learning level and at a competitive level. I think they are trying to make understand what I mentioned before, that the chess public understands that chess is something more than the 64 squares, that you can compete and win rewards as well as be part of the training process as well as the market component, all this attached to the current situation taking a step forward in the new modern vision of chess.
Feel free to add any comments, answers, concerns about your chess life.
Just add that for those of us who were born in the generation known as X we must change our way of thinking about chess, these are no longer those times where the only meeting point was in the club from the city, where the only way to follow a tournament was through the written press or chess magazines and where only a few had the chance to progress rapidly, today with universal access to all the tools offered by the network anyone could improve without even be active and we are about to see in the near future people who have never been to a tournament and achieve excellent results in their first time in an event.
I want to thank Outpost Chess for trusting me and giving me the opportunity for this interview.
